Four Dallas Cowboy were selected to the 2005 Pro Bowl in Hawaii
I voted, did you? It's safe to say I put votes in for more than a few Cowboys but I did not vote for every Cowboy player. If your wondering, Vinny Testaverde did not make the cut and I didn't vote for him either, no offense Vinny, HONEST! The best news was that Jason Witten will be making the trip along with Alge Crumpler of Atlanta. I had hopes that Jason would make the squad but also had doubts because of one Jeremy Shockey up in NY. It appears that I'm not the only fan who noticed just how well Jason was playing this season. Jason is the first Cowboy tight end to make the pro bowl since, you guessed it, Jay Novacek. Lets hope that Jason can make the annual trip to Hawaii on a regular basis. Witten, who is in his second season, earned it by setting team single-season records for catches and yards receiving by a tight end. His 73 receptions leads the team, making him likely to become just the second tight end to ever finish as the club leader.
The other Cowboys that made the squad are; Larry Allen at Guard. No surprise here, Larry has been a staple at the pro bowl guard position (1 at tackle) for many years and now seems to be making the team on recognition more than effort. Although this year was a much better effort than last seasons. This will be Larry Allens 9th trip to the Pro Bowl.
Two defensive players will be making the trip despite the downturn of a defense that allowed the fewest yards in the NFL last season. La'Roi Glover is making his 5th straight trip to Hawaii at DT (2 as a Saint and 3 as a Cowboy) and Roy Williams will be going for the 2nd year in a row at safety. Four players is a nifty feat for a last place (5-9) team but there have been many times when fewer players were selected from a Cowboy team that made the playoffs including last season.
