There is no doubt that many Cowboys fans received a small of amount of satisfaction when the news came in on Monday that Terrell Owens was lost for the season, or at least until the Super Bowl if the Eagles go that far. We've all been taught that it's not nice to gloat over someone elses misfortune. My mom would not approve.
To many Cowboy fans, Owens' injury at the hands of the Cowboys is poetic justice in spades. First there is a faction of Cowboy fans who are still bitter about the Michael Irvin injury that ended his career to the delight of many Eagles fans. As reported, many Eagle fans were cheering as Michael Irvin lay paralyzed on the Veterans stadium turf. Secondly, there is another faction of fans who are still bitter at Terrell for his showboating stance on the mid field star a few years back. Some fans reside in both camps and some fans refuse to stoop so low as the appear delighted at a players injury.
I don't fall into either catagory. When Michael Irvin was injured, I didn't hear the fans cheer.. I read about it later and didn't put much thought into it. Every team, and I mean EVERY TEAM, has stupid, ignorant or just plain evil fans that gain satisfaction at any team or players misfortune. As for Terrell Owens standing on the Star instance, well George Teague took out all the anomosity I had for Owens that day. God Bless you, George Teague!
My biggest thought after hearing the news was he NFC playoff picture just got very interesting. The Terrell Owens' injury has made what was seemingly a formality into a potential dog fight. The forgone conclusion that the Eagles were the NFC elite and would no doubt represent the NFC in the Super Bowl is now a distant memory.
Even with the Terrell Owens' injury, I think the Eagles are the best team in the NFC. One of the other teams like Atlanta or Minnesota would have to get hot, really hot, ala Carolina Panthers, to beat the Eagles in Philly but the odds just got a lot better. Who knows, maybe the Eagles will ban together and play even better. Because lets face it, even before Terrell got injured on Sunday, the Eagles were playing less than inspired football against a mediocre at best Dallas Cowboys squad.
NO, I didn't chuckle when Terrell went down, I went, 'hum'

A twist of fate or poetic justice, some teams in the NFC are smiling now.
