September 29, 2004
An already suspect Cowboy secondary received another blow Monday night when CB Pete Hunter went to the ground with a knee injury in the 1st quarter.
The Cowboys found out yesterday that Pete Hunter would be lost for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The Injury occurred during the 1st quarter of Monday Nights game vs the Redskins. Rookie Jacques Reeves, who replaced Pete in the lineup Monday, will be expected to fill the vacancy with a few others, Rookie Nate Jones and Rookie Bruce Thornton, waiting in the wings waiting if he fails.
Although Reeves gave up a few long passes late, he seemed up to the challenge against the Redskins, who continued to target the Rookie 7th round pick. He made the tackles he needed to make without giving up any yards after the catch, now he just needs to work on not giving up the catch, at least not too many.
"I feel pretty good about the game I had tonight, " Reeves said. "But I know I had stuff to improve upon. I think I can." Cowboys fans Hope he can.
"We got some young kids that have to grow up," coach Parcells said.
