| Mel Renfro was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 1964 NFL draft. His Rookie card appears in the 1965 Philadelphia Gum base set card #53. Philadelphia Gum produced NFL football cards from 1964 through 1967 and although these cards are not flashy they do represent some of the best players in NFL history. Low condition raw versions of this card can be had for under $15 but high grade examples can run in the hundreds. Philadelphia Gum was notorious for rough edges which makes high grades hard to come by and therefore the higher grades, even for common cards from this set demand a premium.. |
