Daryl
Johnston was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1989
NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys (39th overall). After
earning a starting spot in 1991, Daryl become a constant
figure in the Cowboys lineup playing in 149 consecutive
games. Daryl was the premier blocking fullback during
his 11 years with the Cowboys and he paved the way
for Emmitt Smith
to become the NFL's all time leading rusher. It was
very evident how much Daryl meant to Emmitt when on
the day Emmitt broke the all time record the first
person Emmitt hugged was Daryl Johnston! Daryl was
a 2 time Pro Bowler before ending his career in 1999
with a neck injury. You can still hear the 'Moose'
calls when Daryl makes a visit to Texas Stadium as
a top NFL analyst for the FOX network.
