Harvey Martin was chosen by the Dallas Cowboys
in the 3rd round of the 1973 NFL Draft. Harvey was a small defensive lineman out of East Texas University (now Texas A&M University at Commerce). Harvey came into the league when Defensive Ends were not expected to put much pressure on the QB, He changed that notion and how! Harvey Martin was a 4 time Pro Bowler and was co-MVP of Super Bowl XII with Randy White. He was NFL Defensive player of the year in 1977 when he recorded 20 QB sacks. Martin led the Cowboys in sacks 7 of his 11 seasons and finished his career as the Cowboys all time QB sack leader with 114. Harvey is easily considered the greatest pass rushing defensive lineman in Cowboys history and a member of the 2nd generation 'Doomsday Defense'.
Harvey passed away Christmas eve 2001 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He will NOT be forgotten!
