Alvin Harper, WR from the University of Tennessee, was selected in the 1st Round of the 1991 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Alvin was a major component in the Cowboys early 1990s dynasty that won 3 of 4 Super Bowls. Although Alvin played second fiddle to Michael Irvin, he was known for his clutch receptions in big games. He led the league in yards per catch in 1994 with 24.9 while scoring 8 touchdowns. The biggest catch of his career and one of the top in Cowboys history came in the 1992 Championship game vs the 49ers. The Cowboys were leading by 4 and trying to run out the clock. Alvin took a short slant pass from Troy Aikman and scampered 70 yards, setting up the Cowboys on the 10 yard line and securing the Cowboys first Super Bowl appearance in over a decade. In 1995, Alvin signed a Free Agent contract with the Tampa Bay Bucs and although he had a career high 46 catches his first season in Tampa, he was not able to live up to his Free Agent billing. He was released after 2 seasons in Tampa and played 1 season in Washington and then returned to the Cowboys in 1999 for 2 games. He retired after the 1999 season having played in 102 games, catching 191 passes for 3472 yards and 21 Touchdowns. In 2001, Alvin played in the defunct XFL for a short while.
