Cornell Green Dallas Cowboy football cards
Cornell Green was an undrafted free agent from Utah State in 1962. Cornell didn't play football in college but instead he was a standout point guard. The Dallas Cowboys believed his speed, quickness, and sheer athletic ability would allow him to make the transition to pro football. He was on the All Rookie team in 1962, was All Pro 5 times and was a Pro Bowler 5 times. Cornell led the Cowboys in interceptions 4 times and played 13 seasons where he never missed a game. Over his career, Cornell intercepted 34 passes for 552 yards, taking 2 the distance for a score. He also scored 2 TDs on fumble recoveries. Cornell is probably the greatest Cowboy you've never heard of or heard little about. He played in 2 Super Bowls, led the team in interceptions many times and was in the Pro Bowl almost every season. It's a shame that his name is not in the Cowboys Ring of Honor, a well deserved honor, if and when it does come.
